I have a few more questions about how to do some what I consider to be "oddball" things in Linux. 1. Is there some utility I can use that will to a 16bit -> 8bit conversion for my SoundBlaster 2.01? I know there are patching packages to do this, but for some reason I always get a bad kernel in the end. I'd like something that I could put in one of my rc.x scripts or something like that. I'm using Caldera OpenLinux w/ kernel 2.2.10. 2. Is there a way to make the S3 XServer do above 8bit color with a card that has an unrecognized RAMDAC? Is it possible to use a XServer that uses the VESA standard? I have XFree86 v3.3.4 installed and am using KDE 1.1.1. Thanks to all who read and reply... Mike Hurley ===== It compiled. The first screen came up. Ship it. --Bill Gates __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! Mail – Free email you can access from anywhere! http://mail.yahoo.com/
