If someone is forging a mail header to pretend it is from you to get you automatically unsubscribed from the list then you _will_ get a notification that you unsubscribed. If you were unsubscribed (by either method) you would have to resubscribe. If you try and resubscribe when you are already subscribed I think Topica tells you so (not sure about that one though). Did you have to resubscibe? Internet email is sent on a "best effort" basis. Normally it's very good - a few seconds sometimes. However if intermediate mail servers (including the one your ISP uses) have problems with connectivity then mail can get "stuck" in the system for hours or even days at a time. Thankfully this happens rarely but it does happen. This explains why emails to the topica list sometimes arrive "out of thread sequence" - you just have to get used to it. If an email server crashes and the administrators of it aren't particulary good at planning for such an event then large numbers of emails can simply be lost for good with no notification to anyone of the loss. If you think someone is messing with your email and/or Topica subscription then open a free web based email account, subscribe to Topica with it and then if you think your messages are being blocked look on your web based email account and see if that account got it. It's a bit overkill but it would put your mind at rest. Also if you have the option of trying a different ISP on a trial basis then give it a go. That would help determine if your current ISP has flaky email services. I hope some of these suggestions are of help to you (or anyone else on the list for that matter). Regards, FP.
