Hi Don,

I like to think that everyone is so busy working on their
programs that they dont have even a minute to post (ha ha).
I myself have been doing some minor programming work, but
mostly working on hardware for a while yet.
I also see the new C source code for Eu isnt as clear as
i had hoped in would be, so i havent even brushed the
dust off it yet smile I have modified the old Eu source
for another of my personal uses however, but that didnt take
more than an hour or so.

Take care,
Al

Where are all these user's that have been demanding open source ?

Where are all these new improvements that they were going to implement if
ROB would only open the source ?

I think was better when just ROB was developing the source.

Sour grapes, Bernie.

People have been working on and improving the source, and it is highly
appreciated by the rest of us.

Well, I just made another commit (for making the interpreter try to open
a file with all standard euphoria executable extensions if the file given
didn't have an extension). You've said this before. Why did you prefer
when Rob was the only one doing anything?

I think we've had several things happen with the code that probably wouldn't
have if it were just Rob (for instance, it was pretty easy to fix the code
to work with FreeBSD 6.2, instead of 4.x, which is what Rob has used).

Matt, I hope it still works with 4.x, because that's what my web host provider
uses... It will suck if I can't upgrade to use the new relative include file
path code. :(

Yes, it should. I added some ifdefs which only get defined if you use the
makefile to build it. Nothing I did should affect Rob's shell script, which
is what he used to build euphoria on FreeBSD.

Matt:

The same 2 or 3 user's are working on the code now; as were working
on the code before the code became OPEN SOURCE.

Rob had the incentive to upgrade the code often to get upgrade fees.

The OPEN SOURCE is not producing any incentive to increase the updates.

The user's have other priorities and will work on it when they need
a feature for their own projects or have some spare hobby time.

I still would rather pay ROB for full time devotion to the upgrades.

Well, I hope you're not counting me in that. True, I was working on
the euphoria backend, but that's of pretty limited use compared to the
real deal.

Maybe, but how long was it between releases? More than a year apart by
the end of the 'closed source era.'

While I won't argue against Rob and his abilities, I think we're all getting
more out of this now that it's open source. Heck, if there's something you
want Rob to do, you could always put in a donation:
