1. New files uploaded

Hi

Ok, I probably know this is pure utter laziness on my part, but how about
an email notification to registered users whenever a new file is uploaded
to the euphoria website?

I want to avoid mass mailings.
My Web host might not like it.
My address might get put on a spam blacklist.
I'd have to deal with all the bounces, and the
complaints when e-mails fail to arrive, etc.

Have you thought about RSS-newsfeeds?
When a new file is added, just update 1 XML-file.
Those who have a newsfeed-reader can then subscribe to the newsfeed. The
RSS-reader checks the newsfeed regularly (just reads the XML-file) to see if
there are updates, and notifies the user if there are updates.
The latest version of the Opera-browser has a builtin RSS-reader, so while
you're browsing, you will be notified when there are updates.

My impression is:
   - few people are using RSS readers
   - few people need to know ASAP when a new
     update appears
   - RSS comes in many slighty incompatible formats
(I guess if you give me an example in exactly the format that
I should use, I might try it.)
