There's a system setting to either show or not show those... it's up to the
user.

Hiyas Judith =)

If this is the same thing I am thinking of, it is the same
under 2k as well.  It was a "GUI enhancement" per se.  The
under score for menus will not show up unless you are holding
down the Alt key or some such.  I do not think there is a way
to always show them unless you would consider a custom drawn
menu which imo is more trouble than its worth...

Dang, I wonder if 2k has the same setting buried somewhere in the
options.  I never liked that particular change to the GUI...
