Hi
Since we're having a bit of an off-topic party here -
Nate behaves a bit like a flamer with his provocative comments.
Flaming is strange - the only purpose seems to get people to waste
bandwidth by wrangling with each other. In fact, the responses to
flames are often more of a problem than the flame itself.
I always thought that the proper ettiquette for dealing with flamers
was to just ignore them. If they are really offensive then just
filter them out of your email. Flamers attack free speech by making
us want to make rules about what is acceptable speech.
Nate is provocative, and insincere. He's starting to seem like a
creep, with creepy friends. If he wants to broadcast himself as a
creep to the whole world, why should I care, and more to the point,
what can I do? There are lots of creeps - should I straighten them
all out? What the hell - I think that there are people who consider
me a creep - should they make my life miserable?
I think we should be a bit more tolerant.
Bye
Martin
