I was wonderin' a coupla things:
1. Can we utilize True Type fonts? If so, how? If not, why not? :)
2. Below is the error message when I run detect.ex... can anybody please
explain to me what I might need to do to get things working properly?

It seem that detect.ex doesn't work properly on some computer (on mine it
work fine)
In your case it report a negative dsp version and can't detect dma8 channel.
The following error in TstInt() come from the fact that it didn't detect
dma8 and try to use it any way. I modify detect.ex so now it abort at the
first error with an appropriate message.
For the moment I don't have any solution.
