1. Euphoria Robots?

I vaguely remember some conversation about an "Euphoria Robots" game,
something like C-Robots, Corewars (well, not really) and the like.
(You program an AI for your robot yadda yadda etc, look at the EUPHORIA
archives, January 98).
Has anyone actually done such a program (except the bloke from Liquid
Nitrogen Software, who apparently gave up on the project) or something
like it? Or would someone be interested in making one?

It really _would_ be kind of cool to make an "EuWars" game, as someone
said. It could be something like Corewars but the programs (or robots,
depends on what the game is like) would be written with euphoria, or
some custom scripting language. Just as long as the robot programming
lang wouldn't be like assembler or Redcode, they're a bit hard to read
and even harder to code in.

How about using a modified version of XProL as the scripting language?
Ah, I can already imagine trying to debug 15 COME FROM-statements,
IGNORE and ABSTAIN traps and all the such :) (joke!)
(Yep, I'll be implementing IGNORE and ABSTAIN into XProL 23 in a while)

Well, comments will be appreciated

-Tom

2. Re: Euphoria Robots?

Buddy and I have been working on an Euphoria implemention of
Corewars. We've been working on it off the list, and progress is
slow, because we've been using it as a way of learning ASM, and how
to parse, and computer structure and all kinds of things.

Others are certainly welcome to participate - we've got a pretty
modular design, so that we can work on independant modules. We were
planning to send the code to the list as soon as we got something
functional. Would anyone like a report in the meantime?

Greetings,

I've considdered making some kind of game like this (not the corewars
type but like tank battle or turnbased strategy)

I agree.

Sincerely,
