1. Dragon Warrior :>

I was thinking about these types of games also. I just recently got
Final Fantasy 2(japanese) and FF5(japanese). If you've played Final
Fantasy 3(U.S) or FF7 .. these are the successors to the old FFs and
Dragon Warrior(not sure who made dragon warrior though)

If you're really interested, find an old NES or an emulator and take
a look.

The graphics have a certain style and nostalgia about them. the
NES(orig.
nintendo) games (DW and FF1 and FF2) were 8bit boring... but the music
was *great* and the storyline of FF2 has blown me away so far.

If I knew how to program well enough, it would certainly be one more
project I'd attempt :> But I don't even have the slightest clue
where to begin. (well ok ok.. first I'd start by trying to find out
how they wrote the original games... but I"m already working on a
research project :)

Yup, these are ALL classic games. FF5 (which was never releasedin North
America) was translated a while back by a group of emulation
gurus. Very impressive work! [and very awesome games!!]

Dragon Warrior, by the way, was made by Enix. It was called 'Dragon's
Quest' in Japan, where it grew to immense popularity. Only 4 games were
released for NES, though, whereas in Japan the series continues. If you
want to find out more about it, I suggest the following sites:

Which you can find on one of the above sites, I think.

<sniiiiiiiiip>

On a side note, it turns out that someone's trying to make a version
of Dragon Warrior. Here's the URL, if you're interested : [I know there's
a more recent version of this page, but I can't seem to find it. Hm.]

Hope this helps.
