there's always the usual COM port & modem settings, packet size etc you
can change.
you might also try getting one of those "intelligent" caching programs
for surfing; I haven't tried them out though so I couldn't tell you if
they work or not.
if you're looking to speed up your browsing, look at Opera. the current
version doesn't have support for Java or anything like that, but it's
lean code makes it extremely fast.
there are also some programs out there that allow "modem linking", ie
using two modems in tandem. the caveat with this is you must have 2 phone
lines & 2 ISP accounts for each modem. :(
i'm sure there's alot of other stuff out there that I don't know about...
