how hard would it be to write my own video player? it would have to support many video formats. maybe using windows media player? it has to be able to also: capture images, fast forward play, slow play, play frame by frame and cut parts of video. anybody has any good links?

No, but i have someone on the hook that could use video grabber and frame comparator. I can do this with my eyes closed in hardware (since i helped design and did all the prototype/debugging on a video time base corrector), but they have one idle puter i'd like to show off on. Playing captured video in a constant stream (not in jerky stop motion) would be a requirement. Kat
