euAllegro has builtin Pixel Perfect collision detection routines
based on PPCol (an Allegro addon libarry). The is a very simple
demo program that does collision detection you can look at.
euAllegro also has a few examples of moving sprites across the screen
with particular empthesis on double buffering.
The euAllegro games pack has a simple Invaders game that you might
want to look at as well.
euAllegro can be downloaded from the Recent user Contributions as well
as my web page (see below).
I'm sure there are dozens of other examples in the Archive
(most games will have some sort of collision detection mechanisim).
