1. Wake up! - was Re: note on AI

(Warning, somewhat off topic:)

So I go looking online for reviews and references to this book I read. People
are so stoopid, they deserve to be replaced by machines. Cases in point:

http://www.powells.com/biblio/78200-78400/0714530336.html - Facts presented
accurately, the reviewer didn't like the book, okay.

http://www.ala.org/booklist/v94/adult/oc1/33collin.html - Misleading on some
points.

Now here we get to have some fun:

http://www.csam.iit.edu/~cs485/fall2000/reports/yoshi.html - No Michelle, your
book report demonstrates that either you didn't read the book (all the way to the
end), or you somehow failed utterly to understand it.

And http://www.zealot.com/features/archives/candave.php3 says:

<snip>
Warwick Collins, author of Computer One, a novel based on his fears that
computers will one day revolt, says that the government must establish rules on
the attributes that machines can be given. He says that military computers have
access to plutonium stores and biological weapons. "If computers no longer needed
humans and saw them as a threat, they could, without warning, wipe us out."

You heard it from an expert, folks. Computers could wipe us out.
</snip>

Collins' status as a SCREENWRITER makes him an expert on computers??? Sheesh.

Anyway, Computer One is a pretty good read, and will leave poor Ferdinand
needing much MORE sleep.
