Use & before the letter you want underlined.

e.g. &File will underline F, O&pen will underline p

It works fine with the win32lib, modified by Sascha Zindel, that I ship with
IDE. A caption "&File" underlines the "F" and I press Alt key + F to activate.

Maybe someone else has an answer why this isn't working for you.

In Windows 2000 & XP, underlined keys are hidden until you press the
Alt-key. This is true in all programs. Didn't you notice?

To turn underlined letters on all the time, right-click the Desktop, click
Properties, go to Appearance tab, click Effects, and uncheck the "Hide underlined
letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key" checkbox. (These are
XP instructions; Windows 2000 may be a little different.)

Really? I notice this in Opera (on win98) and hate it.

Not that it was me who asked, but THANKYOU!
Actually in Opera it was Preferences, Screen reader compatible menus,
but I never thought to see if there was an option for this, not that I
would have understood what it meant when I saw it. Now that I know how
to turn it off, I feel a little more reasonable about this change!

I see from a prior post that you have IDEWin32lib.zip. It is the win32lib
modified by Sascha Zindel.

Thanks to other responders that the problem might be a Win2000 and XP
difference.
