1. usb flash drive

Anyone familiar with a fast usb flash drive? I've got a couple, but they seem
to be quite slow.

I have a 256MB SanDisk Mini Cruiser USB v2.0. It is fairly quick at data
transfering (ofcourse it's nowhere near the 480 Mbps I/O bandwidth limit of USB
2.0). I use it to store my Euphoria programs, college stuff, and other goodies.

I just wear it like a necklace wherever I go. smile

Vincent

Hi George,

The USB 1.0 ports are fairly slow, and to get high speed you need a
decent flash drive and a USB 2.0 port.
I have two, and one is *quite* slow and the other is faster.
By *quite* slow, i mean it would take five minutes to save 50 small
files! The other one is faster, but the port must be 2.0 to work
as fast as possible.
Sometimes the computer specs are misleading too... they say it handles
"USB" but they dont say if it's 1.0 or 2.0, so if they dont say it
could be 1.0 . When i plug the 'good' drive into a slow port, it
immediately detects that and provides a message "you plugged a high
speed device into a low speed USB port so it wont work fast" or
something like that. The older slow drive didnt give any indication
that it wasnt plugged into a 2.0 port.
From this you can see there are some differences in computer ports as
well as the drives themselves.

Take care,
Al

And, good luck with your Euphoria programming!

Hi George,

Must be the drive then, unless you dont have the proper motherboard
software installed to drive the USB 2.0 port properly (if needed).
You can check in your system device manager...that might help.
