I no longer get that, but the message I quoted instead. My own guess is that I don't have the right version of xmlparse.dll. Where am I supposed to find it? It's not listed on gtk.org, and it's not in the expat package. I forgot to mention that, when running pango/query-modules.exe as suggested, I get <quote> # Pango Modules file # Automatically generated file, do not edit # # ModulesPath = C:\Grave2\GTK\pango-1.4.1\lib\pango\1.4.0\modules # [Invalid UTF-8] Cannot load module C:\Grave2\GTK\pango-1.4.1\lib\pango\1.4.0\mod ules\pango-arabic-fc.dll: La proc\xe9dure sp\xe9cifi\xe9e est introuvable. I'm afraid I didn't even reach the stage where gtk version might be an issue :/ I have no C compiler at office; is my gmessage folder (where 1.0.7 was unzipped) of any use? More info about this xplat environment? (not sarcastic yet) CChris
