Rob, I really hope this all works out and you can make a decent living. You gonna sign up book deals with Sybex/OReilly? Does your Euphoria copyright prevent others from jumping the gun on you?

There really aren't enough users to justify writing a book about Euphoria. Jeremy

If you're taking the traditional publishing route it can be an expensive gamble, but these days there are self-publishing companies that print 'on demand'. Check out www.lulu.com.

True, there is probably not enough users to justify a book, yet. If Euphoria becomes mainstream due to the open source, then great. I just wanted to jog Rob's thoughts that he should not allow someone else to profit on his hard work, and risk. BTW, is does Larry Wall making a living from Perl...? If so, how?

Alan Oxley wrote: > BTW, is does Larry Wall making a living from Perl...? If so, how? I think he has published about 7 books on Perl and is or was a salaried employee of O'Reilly. Money does not seem to be his primary motivation. From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Wall "Wall continues to oversee further development of Perl and serves as the Benevolent Dictator for Life of the Perl project. His role in Perl is best conveyed by the so-called 2 Rules, taken from the official Perl documentation: Larry is always by definition right about how Perl should behave. This means he has final veto power on the core functionality. Larry is allowed to change his mind about any matter at a later date, regardless of whether he previously invoked Rule 1. Got that? Larry is always right, even when he was wrong." And another from: http://www.softpanorama.org/People/Wall/index.shtml "LW: Ten years ago or so, we had Richard Stallman's GPL, and Perl was licensed under that. And I discovered that that worked fine for the hacker community, for the geeks, but it prevented Perl from being used in a commercial environment. So I wrote my own license. But I didn't want to offend the free software, the GPL people. So, rather than switching licenses, I said "Well, let's have both licenses and you may distribute Perl under either of them at the same time." And that way, the computer crowd, they had their insurance that their rights would not be taken away, and the companies had some insurances that their rights would not be taken away, and everyone was happy. That's sort of cultural hack that I'm talking about. " Gary
