Feel free to feel corrected.

If i need a dedicated box that is mission specific, not needing a fancy gui,
that stays
up for years at a time, i'll put it on dos, written in Eu. Prolly MS-dos too
<sigh>, since i
still can't get DR-dos to run here, and don't have the $$$ for the professional
ide for it. I
have stacks of books on MS-dos.

And some of those people in "third world" countries can't afford a $65 OS from
MS,
even if they put their entire yearly wages towards it. Neither do they need it
in most
cases. Same for the puter hardware, i'll bet most puters in Angola that are not
state-
owned are 286 boxes.

Dos doesn't need a harddrive to run on, an 8080 cpu with a one meg rom and a few
100K of ram, and you have a useful handheld whatever. Or an embedded controller
card that will run forever without running out of resources.
