delete if ya don't like rants (no eu gems here )

i have finished reading the docs on EU, but haven't put pen to paper =
(euphorically speaking) yet. but I take issue with the whole DOS vs. =
Windows vs. Linux (vs. macintosh vs. HPUX etc. etc. etc.). DOS is not =
going to come to an end any time soon (have you looked at IBM Japans =
v4.0 WEBBOY? or any of the 'palmtop' OSes?) and from what I can tell =
windows is the OS of choice for the masses only in the US. not because =
its the best, but because its the most prevalent. The only problem I =
have with DOS is that most of the really good software has ....died, =
been revamped, disappeared, changed too much (pick one ie. XTG, Deskview =
, Sidekick etc.)
I like seeing the windows development (EU) stuff in the maillist because =
it shows where things are headed (still growing). It would be nice if =
the DOS and Linux stuff were pushed as hard. And I am particularly =
interested in anything remotely connected with hardware manipulation =
(souncards, serial ports etc.)
that said,
my reasoning for getting involved and wanting to program EU is primarily =
for its DOSability. microsoft in its infinite wisdom abandoned DOS when =
IBM gave them the boot and has been pushing Windows with all its might =
(thats why they get attacked on a regular basis). The nice thing is that =
every dos program I know of (except a few games) will run in Windows.
My time has been consumed with work, and a couple of HPcalculator =
programs lately, but I hope to spend some time with programming some EU =
applications here shortly (text file search engine for starters) and =
hope to make extensive use of Jiri's widgets and several other of the =
'examples' put forth by others.

I was wondeing why all of the sudden is Jiri bitchin?

Jiri has cornered the market on euphoria's speed
and based on translated code, Jiri should rejoice
and not rush Robert to spit out the final release translator.

I like DOS too Jiri but face the fact thats in a few yrs
it probably wont exist....correct me if I'm wrong

  A question:
Why all of the sudden is everyone dumping code out on the
internet? Everywhere I turn I run into code that has been
released w/GNU Liscence and full source code....

I think that it must have something to do with MS stateing
that 64-bit windows code CAN NOT run 32-bit code.

  Any takers on that one?
