I'm using Mandrake 8.2. When I type [backslash] in the ed editor, also in the gedit editor, and the KMail editor, in all three editors it prints a less than sign. How am I supposed to do the newline thing?

Me, too. 9.0 was just released yesterday. > When I type [backslash] in the ed editor, also in the gedit editor, and > the KMail editor, in all three editors it prints a less than sign. > How am I supposed to do the newline thing? It works fine here. You probably have the keyboard mapped wrong. Go to: -> What to Do? Administer your system Configure KDE to bring up the Configure KDE dialog, assuming you are running KDE and not Gnome. Expand 'Personalization', and double click 'County and Language'. You could also get it by choosing: Configuration KDE Personalization Country & Language Make sure the 'Country:' dropdown has the correct country selected. -- David Cuny
