Hello, What are you guys using for help files? The time has come for my app to have a help file. I am considering going compiled html but dont know how. My app is windows based so the help file also needs to be, would also be great if the help file could be printed like a manual. Any ideas where to look? Thanks

I usually use regular HTML files. If you want a printable manual, it might be a good idea to use PDF. You can create PDF-files for free if you use OpenOffice.org. It has an easy PDF Export function. -- The Internet combines the excitement of typing with the reliability of anonymous hearsay. tommy online: http://users.telenet.be/tommycarlier tommy.blog: http://tommycarlier.blogspot.com

Tony, If you go to MSDN and search for "Help SDK" you should find a program to download that creates compiled help files for Window (type .chm). You can use any HTML editor to construct how you want the help to look and then create/compile a project with the tool. I can give you more details if you need. It has an easy PDF Export function. Even better, get PDFCreator: http://sector7g.wurzel6.de/pdfcreator/ You can set it up as a printer, so any application that can print can create PDFs. Matt Lewis
