It's cardinal directions only.  It's for a turn based RPG we're designing,
similar to The Bard's Tale series.  My crawler looks to see where you are
then generates the appropriate dungeon image.  Since it's an RPG I need
the extra detail level I get with pre-rendered composite pieces.

Here's another image showing more detail and monsters.  Note everything is
phong shaded and eventually all the walls and objects will be animated as
well.
