what they meant by that. I kind of doubt that there was any real linkage to the
X Window
API.

David had has a few attempts as wrapping up the GTKLib (look for Liama at RDS'
site) ..
which runs under X-Windows ... and Irv has a full working wrapper of GrapApp,
which is an
easier-to-easy interface to X-Windows as well .... so no, no real linkage, but
yes, indirect
linkage, controls, windows, etc. However, the chose to use a api in between,
simply because
we 1) don't need all the weird features X-Windows lets us do 2) its much more
easy to
program for, and takes less time and effort.

[About the IDE]

David, why not have the code generated by the IDE visible in the code-editor ?
 Say you
have a *special* win32lib, that shows editable and clickable controls (the
events go to the
ide rather than to the program) ... however, do have the code 'interpreted ...
some people
wrote such a tool, with a few modifications it should be do-able. You stop
interpreting a
program after the 'run-code ()' or 'show-window' or whatever ..it is called, the
basic event
loop. This allows for people to learn Win32Lib much better, also, it will allow
custom
changes ... ie. doing things that Win32Lib currently hasn't any wrapped features
for ..
I mean, writing something like your IDE is still complex in the IDE itself,
however then you
(and we smile can have the best of both worlds ....

Just a thought .. (its not original though, I can't remember where its from, I
believe from some
OS/2 IBM Ide tool, but what language ? hmm .. )
