Has anyone else been getting causeway crashes when clicking the mouse under
Win2k?

The DOS mouse support on NT and 2000 has always been flaky.
Those old "business" systems never supported DOS as well as
the "home" systems.
The DOS mouse works fine on XP/ME/98/95.

The DOS mouse doesnt work at all for me, neither does the keyboard.
No response at all. I'm running WinXP.

I'm not aware of anyone else, on any version of Windows,
who can't use the keyboard with a Euphoria for DOS program.
Maybe someone else on EUforum has had this problem with XP
and knows how to fix it.

I can't speak for the keyboard issue but if you are running a DOS program
that uses mouse input in a window, then you must disable "QuickEdit" mode
for that window. (right-click console window title bar, select properties,
deselect 'quickedit mode')

Sometimes when I run a program in XP, the Euphoria program window doesn't
get "focus." So, as I type, the keystrokes aren't going to the Euphoria
program... I have to use the mouse to click it to activate it. Maybe that's
what was happening here.

Thanks, Brian and everyone else. I tried that before; it didn't
work. After I posted, I googled and found that this is a big problem.
There were even Euphoria mailing-list posts on it dating back to
2001. I was using XP for a year or two and never had any problem on that
platform.

That happens on win95 too. Alternatively, a program will launch from a timer,
pop up a dos box, and grab whatever i had been typing in another window!

But what's the keybd got to do with the original problem of a mouse causing
the app to crash?
