Does anyone know where to get a free Regedit. When I try to use the stock Windows95 one the regedit window opens up and then closes right away. I have re-installed Windows95 several times and it still won't work. I even copied a version that works fine on my Windows98 machine . Still nothing. I found a couple of editcleans on the net but they are just demos. (Regisryfix, Registy Mechanic). They show me the problems but won't fix them unless you pay. There is only one problem I care about "Can't find Cshook.vxd" on every windows start up. I think I could fix it manually if I could get the stock Windows regedit to work. I'm at my wits end on this, if anybody could help much appreciate. Don Cole SF

Sounds like a virus. I had a similar problem before. Try renaming regedit.exe as regedit.com and running it. If that works, then you probably have a virus that is forcibly closing regedit.exe. If all else fails, maybe someone here could whip up a Euphoria-based registry editor. ~Greg On Sat, 05 Feb 2005 08:01:35 -0800, don cole <guest at rapideuphoria.com> wrote: > > posted by: don cole <doncole at pacbell.net> > > Does anyone know where to get a free Regedit. > When I try to use the stock Windows95 one the regedit window opens up > and then closes right away. There are a number of free registry editors available. One that works well for me is "Registrar Lite", available at: http://www.resplendence.com/reglite Larry Miller

I don't remember if there is a regedt32.exe with windows 95 but it is the case, you may try it instead of regedit.exe regards, Jacques d.

The guy who made Spybot - Search and Destroy, the popular free spy/adware remover, made a registry editor that's free. http://safer-networking.de/en/regalyzer/index.html
