1. Euphoria / Linux

Following the recent discussions and impending port(s) of Euphoria to Linux,
I have been considering a vendor and have found that tigerdirect.com offers
Caldera's Open Linux Base 1.2 for $49.99..........

I imagine that this may be a bit more expensive than Red Hat, but I believe
that it includes DR DOS, Netscape and Star Office - a wordprocessor, Data
Base, and Spreadsheet "Suite".

Wonder if they would bundle the Linux PD Euphoria?

At http://www.linuxmall.com they sell Debian, Linux Pro by WGS, OpenLinux
by
Caldera, Red Hat Linux, SuSE or Slackware, each at $1.89... amazing!

Can please someone tell me the trick?

They are the CDs only, without support from the distributors. Also, in the case
of Caldera, it is the Lite edition, not base or standard, which means it does
not come with StarOffice and a few other pieces.

Correct. However, I wouldn't count on much support from any
of the distributors. Far better to invest your money in one or
two good books on Linux, and pay $1.99 for cd's. At that price,
and considering you will pay a few dollars for postage, whether you
buy 1 or 10, I suggest getting several or all distributions. It takes
maybe an hour to load a complete distro, so it's not too
hard to give each a try. You also get a different set of
program archives with each.

Note: RedHat has a real problem: very little of the help system
works. Most often you get a message "This is not written yet".
Lot of good that does me. Slackware has some helpful info, but
perhaps not enough. Slackware also sets up ppp to connect to
the internet much easier than RedHat. (RedHat's web site says
they will not provide support for ppp even to paying customers!)

Oh.. save a buck for aspirin. You'll need it.
