I understand that totally - Linux is frightening enough when you get under

But xmotor doesn't work out of the box on SuSE 9.1 + systems, for this
reason you should give poeple the option of running the installer as root,
so that it will fix the system to put the libraries in a place that works.
It may work on RH systems, but at least a new user installing eu on a SuSE
(much easier to install IMHO) system, could just run the 'copier' as root to
get it working. This would be invisible to the user.

Yes its an irritating extra layer of complication.

I bet the Windows crowd are splitting sides about now, I seem to remember
there were similar problems with updating dlls in the past, which seem to
have mostly gone away (apart from Allegro but thats another story smile ).
