1. stand up for human rights
Now, I'm not trying to start a revolution, but there are a few things. Now
John (or whoever law enforcement), this is my opinion, and as a native US
citizen, I have the right to express my opinion peacefully and this opinion
does not harm anyone. Therefore, this is protected by the First Amendment
of our Constitution, which under Article 6 is the supreme law of the land.
Keep that in mind, everybody. No matter what law, the overriding law is
the Constitution.
I think we can come to a concensus that those who live outside the US are
not subject to US law. That said, those outside the US who want any crypto
(particular any program I write) never again need me to violate any US law
for them to get it. Again, all those who want any crypto program of mine
just e-mail me, and maybe in a couple days something else will be set up
(like a foreign web site that I don't create). I emphasize again that
those in the US put them and myself in the clear, period.
Now that the practical matter is over with. The itar regulations are
archaic and disgusting. Quality called it bigotry; I never thought of it
that way. Quality further said this program of mine was a weapon. Well,
then, a wall of a weapon because it "destroys an offensive effort".
Quality? So, are those concrete/cement companies subject to ITAR? Someone
please say yes. Any encryption program is a wall against attack.
That said, everybody has the right to privacy, everybody. It is in the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights. I suppose the export of envelopes
and vaults is subject to ITAR? Oh yeah, the export of keys too? I feel
disgusted at this set of regulations. And I encourage all US citizens here
to voice their opinion. As long as you are opinionated, you are
untouchable.
Encryption is a defensive counter-measure like fences, locks, and window
bars. Are these things regulated too? I am just sad that my country is so
damned arrogant. Quality, I do have to be a dutiful citizen, but I have to
be a dutiful citizen not of my country first, but of my conscience, my God,
and my planet. That is why I will use, from now on, all (yes, legal) means
to propagate whatever useful program I write as my contribution to the
Euphoria community, which has contributed much to me. And John, discussion
is free speech.
