Hi David, It sounds like an interesting idea. I can't connect to that URL ... it is redirecting me to one of those links of shopping sites. How big is the program? Can you put it up on the web somewhere so I (and perhaps others?) can have a look at it? Thanks, Ray david wrote: > At an abandonware site called Home of the Underdogs > (http://www.the-underdogs.com), there is a game called Lists and Lists. > > The game is a programming tutorial disguised as a text-based > adventure. Hi David, I did find the "lists of lists" game in an "IF-Archive" FTP mirror. I actually had to get a Z machine interpreter to run it as well. It's a really interesting idea. I guess the main aspect of the whole game/tutorial is the writing style of the author. He makes the whole "adventure" fun!. The integrated interpreter is good ... but really I'd rather have the written word in one window and an interpreter in another so I could flip between the two. There is no reason why this "style" of writing can't be used in a html (or any format) based tutorial. It would loose some of the fun but really it's the authors writing style that makes the game. That's the whole point of interactive fiction. btw, there is no reason why you (or anyone) can't do the same thing with Euphoria ... except it would be a huge amount of work!!! I'd rather see that effort go into a more traditional mediam at this stage ... but that's just my opinion and it shouldn't stop anyone from attempting such a project. Some links: lists of lists game : ftp://ftp.ifarchive.com/if-archive/games/competition96/lists/lists.z5 A Windows interpreter: ftp://ftp.ifarchive.com/if-archive/interpreters-infocom-zcode/frotz/WinFrotzR53.zip Ray Smith david wrote: > At an abandonware site called Home of the Underdogs > (http://www.the-underdogs.com), there is a game called Lists and Lists. > > The game is a programming tutorial disguised as a text-based > adventure. Hi all, I noticed that some of you are ending up at a shopping site when you try the underdogs address. I believe the correct address is www.the-underdogs.org David S.
