er, no.
I run an http server all the time, and when browsing the web, all ads
just show up as a 'broken gif'. If I used Kat's suggestion to link to an
empty gif, nothing at all would show.
Reason? Ads are images - not html. You have to click on them
before your browser will try to 'go there'. (Short of some
javascript or redirect tricks).
It's nice not to have all those popups.

Just get webwasher for filtering popups. I've never used it myself, but
I've heard lots of good things about it.
