1. OK, for some winsock gurus...

Well, went and installed winbloze98...sigh. Did a clean install, so no
prior conflicts would rear their ugly heads.
I was warned that there was a good chance I would face telnet lag to
some places. I never expected it to be so severe. The board I like to
telnet to to play majormud lags so bad it is unusable. But I can telnet
to other places and it is faster than what I saw in win95. Blah...
So, could this be a conflict with winsock 2 (2.2)? Uninstalling DUN and
installing trumpet winsock 4.0c gave me a lag free connection, but I had
problems browsing the web (could not initialize sockets). So I took out
trumpet and put DUN back in.
Anyway, I know this is not on topic YET. I ask because I am afraid I
could be seeing a 2-way bad street here when setting up EUServer on
win98? Will people from places I lagged to lag if they access EUServer
on my machine?
Now (but unrelated as it cropped up 2-3 days after) I have a new problem
with DUN. If I lose connection (for whatever reason), when I reconnect
I get no communications between my inet apps and winsock (I assume).
Rebooting does not help. I have to uninstall DUN, and then reinstall.
Then it works again. But I cannot do this too much before I scream
bloody murder to Bill Gates.
So, for those of you who had a hand in EUServer, or any other winsock
app in Euphoria, what are your thoughts? Should I continue to develop
my mud in EUServer an use win98, or go back to 95? Anyone else having
problems like this?
Thanks,
Kevin
