Anyone else getting 'Ads from Google' on RDS home page? I don't see them on my
other favorite sites.

I looked at www.rapideuphoria.com and www.rapideuphoria.com/contrib.htm,
and saw no ads. If RDS has no links in the html there (i didn't look), you have
ad trojans installed, or open ports to advertising servers. It's very possible
for
ad companies to get real time reports of your browsing, and force-feed ads
based on what they think you might want to see, since they know you are at
the keybd looking at the screen.

If you look at the HTML-code of EUforum, you can see some Google
JavaScript-code, but the actual using of the system is in comments, so not yet
used. I think RDS is going to implement it, to earn some money via the Google
Ad-system.

I think this is OK.
The Google Ads are text-based, context-sensitive and not very annoying. And it's
a nice way for RDS to make some money, which I think they deserve.

All javascript is surrounded by HTML comments. This doesn't mean it isn't
working, if you have javascript enabled in your browser.
The script has been there for at least a couple of days. It doesn't bother
me, and even with javascript turned off, you still will get one ad there -
for RDS itself.

Agreed.

I thought Judith said

</quote>
that's not the "EUforum" page.

I also get "Ads by Google" on the RDS home page, and on the EUforum page,
too.

Agreed. But maybe the text

"The Topica mailing list will be replaced by a message board written
entirely in Euphoria. It will be free of advertisements, ..."

on the page http://www.rapideuphoria.com/news.htm should be modified? blink

Thanks for mentioning that. I'll remove that. smile

Yes, we've been experimenting for the past few days
with Google ads on our main page and on the EUforum page.
You need Javascript enabled to see them.

We set up the Message Board originally because of the
excessive advertising that Topica started to inject into
every single message, as well as slow unreliable delivery,
and other problems. After a while, Topica stopped inserting
ads, but it could start again.

The Google idea just came up last week. Google
doesn't tell you what revenue to expect
from their AdSense program, and we were curious.
The only way to find out was to set it up.
So far it's going pretty well, and although it's only
a fraction of what we earn through Euphoria
registrations, it helps. If you are interested in an ad,
click it, but don't do excessive clicks or Google might
bounce us out of the system.

We like Google because the ads are fairly small and unobtrusive
and also highly-targeted. They deliver ads that match the
content of the Web site.

You could just put, "It will be free of obtrusive advertisements."
Or something like that.

Yeah, clicking one of those ads, I found another programming
language I like much better than EUPHORIA, and am making the
switch this week. Goodbye everybody.
