1. MLE Text

Dear Euphorians

When I use appendText to add text to my MLEText control, all the "\n"
characters appear as horrible little black rectangles, ruining the
text I am trying to display. I tried "\r" but that screwed up my line
feeds.

Is there a way of having newline characters in sequences such that they
won't be visible in a multi-line text control?

(If I hit Return in the control, the resulting CR is invisible)

Yes. Lines in MLEtext fields must end in CRLF or in Euphoria-speak {13,10}.
A single CR or a single LF is not enough - you need both.
