The doc says that on Win32 that DB_LOCK_SHARED behaves like DB_LOCK_EXCLUSIVE (read/write)... I don't beleive so. It would not allow me to update a record....I changed (which it should have been) to DB_LOCK_EXCLUSIVE and it worked fine. ...george
