Hiyas, just wanted to stop by and let anyone that's still interested in Exotica to know what's going on. I decided to start over and redesign Exotica. It's a new Library call the ' Exotica Multimedia Library '. I can say at least the DirectInput stuff is the same, but this new library will be completely done in DirectX 8. The graphic related functions are done with the DX8's DirectGraphics component which means Exotica is now fully 3D orientated. But I will supply example code to show how to simulate 2D in 3D. Also, this also means there will not be any 3D software mode support. My tummy turns saying that. But Microsoft has gone soft and decided to drop 3D software mode support with DX8. Exotica will not support the "referance" mode until way way later. That mode is only for demo purposes. I almost have the groundwork done to be able to release the first beta of Exotica. The first beta will be private. If you want to be included in my little private beta session, have a look at my forum for further info. Why is is it a private beta? Exotica will be supporting VB, Visual C/C++ and Euphoria at the beginnings and I will be annoucing it on related forums about it. Ofcoarse, it's also so I can get feedback from the interested people that I know that joined the session. You can abtain more info at my website and forum about the new Exotica if you are interested. Also, another note: I figured out what I was doing wrong on trying to make my old Exotica to work with this _stdcall situation. I completely messed up the old Exotica source code trying to figure this out, so that code is scrapped. The new Exotica is _stdcall driven. So hopefully you won't have any problems using the Euphoria to C Translator gadget with your "other" favorite programming language. :) One more thing: About the old Exotica. It will still be available to download ( version 1.6 ), but I am no longer supporting it because I need to have complete attention to the new Exotica. Once the new Exotica is finally out to the public, the old Exotica will disappear into the ether. For those of you that liked and helped me with the old Exotica, thank you soooo much! I wouldn't be this far with DirectX without yall. I am truely grateful. Hopefully, you'll like the new Exotica a whole lot better.
