hi all, this may seem an unimportant or offtopic question but i was wondering wether any one knows how SMS messages are sent, is it like normal emails, coz i want to write a program that can send SMS and receive them. Any expert out there to help me, coz previously here in uganda, to send an sms message you would have to write the phone number followed by the address of the phone service provider eg if my phone no. was 077633952, to send an sms through mail i would have to type the destination address as 077633952 at mtnconnect.co.ug mtnconnect.co.ug being the address of the service provider jordah

There's no way you can send them from internet except some gateway that the operator provides. Eg. operators here in Czech provide WWW interface and e-mail interface as you described. However, it's their bussines so some of them puts some restrictions. You can make your own solution by plugging your GSM phone to a computer a write a program to send incoming mails as SMS to some number, but you'll have to pay the fees for sending. Nartub
