Sorry for any confusion, but in the puzzle, there is no difference between "live" and "own". These are meant to be interchangable and not represent different relationships. Thus the first clue "The British lives in the Red House" could have been written as "The British owns the Red house". In other words, the owners live in their own houses. --- Derek. ----- Original Message ----- From: <euman at bellsouth.net> To: "EUforum" <EUforum at topica.com> Sent: Thursday, February 21, 2002 5:58 PM Subject: Re: Off Topic Puzzle > > OK so the first house is lived in by the British > my last post wasnt clear. > > Still Doesnt look like enough info to solve it > > [house color (should be in order)] > yellow blue green white red > > [owner] > Norwegian British > > [ext] > Dunhill horse milk cat blend > coffee waterdrinker > > > Looks like Ive spent my alotted time on this... > > I give. > > Euman > euman at bellsouth.net > > > > >

My original post on the 21st never made it, so I'll resend it: Derek, I said it before when a variant of this puzzle was presented earlier, so I'll say it again: you can't say ANYONE keeps a fish, because you don't KNOW that anyone keeps a FISH; the one who doesn't keep any of the DESCRIBED pets COULD keep a giraffe, or an iguana, or worms, there's nothing in the puzzle that states one of the people DOES keep a fish. ASKING "who keeps fish", is NOT logically the same as saying "One of the individuals keeps fish; which is it?". The question by itself is not a statement of fact, and all you can apply as puzzle information is statements of fact. Right?
