This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0003_01C7547D.5A20E960 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Hi, I used to be involved in using Euphoria. Over the years I wrote in COBOL, several 4th generation languages, some c, basic, Delphi, and Java. After trying Euphoria, I wrote some system in Rails, and PHP. I have looked at Perl, Python, aand other languages but was dissatified. I am wondering why I don't use Euphoria on production projects It seems ok. Have others used Euphoria in a production mode either straight Euphoria, or converted to "C" ???? Thanks for any advice JIM. ------=_NextPart_000_0003_01C7547D.5A20E960 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16414" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hi,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I used to be involved in using Euphoria. Hi! I have used Euphoria a few times for stuff supplied to customers. I'm employed as a software support guy by trade, and occasionally a customer will ask for something that the official programs can't do. Euphoria is great for reading a data file, manipulation etc and spitting it out again - by GUI or plain batch exe. For example, my difflist program in the archive. Its a funny thing though, the the customers need always seems urgent and desperate/important (so they say) but after the working program is supplied, they lose interest! I suspect that this has something to do with me writing the programs for free. So other than the usual advice for programming in other languages, I'd say make sure you get paid. ;)) Cheers Alan

I use Euphoria for all my projects because it's easy to develop with, is interpreted so I can edit and run, and it runs fast. It's also well-supported and is very stable. I can interface it with databases, graphics libraries, widget libraries, and it's cross-platform. > Have others used Euphoria in a production mode either straight Euphoria, or > converted to "C" ???? I've used it for several internal company projects as well as a customized installer for my company's software. I know that Christopher Bouzy has used it to developed some very sophisticated (and good-looking) programs that he is selling. See this article: http://cklester.com/euphoria/?article=bouzy_interview.article Euphoria is more than capable for most any project. The only question I have is how will it scale as a CGI? I'm hoping to put that to the test with my Building Blocks Content Management Framework: http://cklester.com/?page=main&content=viewarticle&id=26 I'm not privy to the internal development team, but I hope they're actively working on making Euphoria even better... see the features request list for Euphoria here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=182827&atid=902785 [Rob, what's the status on those feature requests? Is there even a process in place to determine what features get included? Where's the white paper for Euphoria development? :) ]
