Hi All
A suggestion: Could the listserv generate a daily automated post =
containing:
a) FAQ's and answers... eg the all too common "how do I get off the =
list"
b) Some guidelines / policies for listserv participation such as
1. No spam - this includes "opportunities", chain mail, pyramid =
schemes.
2. No executables, large attachments. Source or links only.
3. Any post mentioning another contributor's name should be emailed =
to the
contributor rather than the list.=20
c) Link(s) to RDS's archive and other major contributors.
d) A "disclaimer" where all participants agree that they will get thier =
own
garbage emailed back to them from each other participant, should the
guidelines / policies be transgressed. Make the punishment fit the =
crime.
Anyone who is sufficiently annoyed by a particular poster will do so.
IMHO the abovementioned automated post will be worth the small overhead
if it could be done. What say you all?
Regards,
Alan

A good idea - except I don't think it needs to be send _daily_.!
Rule b3 needs to be clarified: suppose I want to ask a question about using
Dave Cuny's editor? Seems like I would need to mention his name, doesn't it?
(d) Excellent solution to the problem!
