1. ABGTE retires
Greetings
After a successful three year run on the World Wide Web, "A Beginner's Guide
To Euphoria" is signing off.
Thanks to those who have visited the page, downloaded the tutorial, and
offered suggestions to make the tutorial and the web page better. A special
thanks to RDS for letting me write two versions of the tutorial about
Euphoria, and for Euphoria Webring for my membership.
Those of you who have a link to ABGTE, please remove the link now. The page
will not be active after April 21st.
Regards
David Gay

Thanks David, for all the work and creativity that you put into
your Beginner's Guide, and the time and effort that you
spent on your Web site, and answering beginners questions.
A few weeks ago, I uploaded a copy of what I believe
to be your latest version. It's in the Euphoria Archive
under Documentation. The URL is:

I hope you'll continue to post to the mailing list,
and send us any new programs that you create.

Ach!! The ABGTE comes down?
Well, I personally would like to thank David. Not everyone on the list is
as good at picking up a new language as others, and I know I wouldn't have
been able to do it without ABGTE.
Thanks,
snortboy

I wish to thank you for what you have done for me with your tutorial.
I can't understand why you leave, but thanks again and good luck.

Well, C.K., my intention is not to replace ABGTE. I think the listserv is
doing a great job teaching newcomers how to program in Euphoria, so I think
ABGTE has already been replaced as such. We have a lot of talented people in
here, such as yourself.
I am however planning to start another Euphoria support page. It will not be
a tutorial page, but it will promote Euphoria and have source and software
to share with people who want to know about it. When it's ready, I'll let
RDS and everyone else know :)

It is indeed. It's ABGTEII, which has been out for I believe 18 months now.

You can count on it Robert. Thanks again for your support. You and Junko
keep up the good work on your end :)

Hi,
Why does everybody want to promote Euphoria?!
While I wish Robert well, I want to keep Euphoria 'secret'. And no, I
am not a selfish sod, but if it becomes really successful (success =
money), the chances are the 'big boys' will move in, take over and
stuff it up again, as usual.
Haven't you learnt anything from history? jiri ;)

I always check your page to see if there was some notices.
I think that=B4s a bad notice for all the begginers in this great lenguage.
I recently devolped a program called EU-WAV to listen WAV files in DOS.
I made it based on one of your demo programs of your tutorial, the demo that
shows the attribute of the dirs and files.
You make history in this lenguage, if you never wrote that tutorial, I never
could understand this lenguage, and I=B4m talking for almost of Euphoria=
Users.
Well, thanks for all DAVID.
