1. How would you control a sprite?

I have just finished uploading an update to my "Sonic the
Hedgehog" game, which now lets you press UP to see Sonic jump.
Not exactly exciting, but the only reason I'm sending this email to
the group is to ask for a bit of advice... is there a better way to
control the sprite...

The way I am controling the sprite now for making Sonic jump
would be the same for making him run - just in a different axis. But
I have a feeling that with the code I have now would make other
actions (such as rolling, etc) harder. I could be wrong.

If you have a bit of time to spare to look over the code, I'd love to
hear your comments on it. You can download it from

the version dated 24-Feb-2000, which is 30.6K. It runs under
DOS32, btw.
