1. Gary, where are you
Remember all that talk on the list about the inability to port VEL to Linux.
Whoops! Corel just bought Inprise/Borland and expects to develop Delphi,
C++ Builder and Object Pascal for Linux. Since Inprise apparently was
already headed in that direction, I suspect that those products will appear
sooner rather than later. Many of the utilities that I like most and find
most dependable are based on Delphi. I suspect that the existence of
Delphi on Linux will cause a huge transport of Delphi based software to
Linux. This could get interesting. The thing that MS fears most is dedicated
developer groups creating cross-platform software. It greatly reduces the
value of any particular platform(commoditizing).
Now, if we can just find some way to get Gary to come back to our community
or contribute his Delphi source, we would have another graphics base that
could be extended and used.
