doesn't do compressed sites.

Can it be made so that you can view/download sites as text (.txt) files?
As you can see them if you press Save As... and select "*.txt file" in
Internet Explorer.

Sure, it would be something like replacing
<title>*</title>
with
<title>*.txt</title>
but i haven't tried it. If you mean html stripping,
1a) replace <!--*--> with nothing
2b) replace <script*/script> and <applet*/applet> with nothing
-- you might wanna replace all FLASH tags too
--then--
2a) replace <br> and <p> with \n
2b) replace <*> with nothing.
I have done that before. That may mess up on pages with html errors and
javascript.

well to the colored foreground! May I recommend to change the
solid background color from still blue to a 'mean' gray?

No. I didn't say I *would not* use a proxy, only that it is not common for
people to use proxys in the home computers.
Actually, I'd never heard of proxomitron until you mentioned it. That is the
reason I was not using that program. I've now installed it and can see its
potential for lots of good things.
