Thank you, but no thank you.

If this becomes an issue (to know how many downloads are happening), I'll
implement a less intrusive manner.

I guess I would too, if I saw them. My browser kills them.

With scripting enabled or disabled? I've got my Google toolbar/pop-up
killer but it doesn't kill pop-unders. I might just try XP-SP2's IE
pop-up killer to see how it fares...

Or you could try Opera. I've been using it for about a year now, and it works
for me. You have control over every little detail (cookies, cache, popups,
JavaScript, ...).

Many browsers have more features than IE. Almost all are more secure..
Unless you have a specific reason to use IE (wuch as a banking site
which was created by cretins) then you con only benefit by using
something else, Firebird is my favorite.

Agreed. I'm using Mozilla 1.7.2. It has a pop-up blocker without disabling
scripts in general. I.e., to use my home banking, pop-ups must be enabled,
so I'm able to exclude this page from pop-up blocking.
By the way: Mozilla plays now GIF89a images with the correct speed, the IE
dosn't!

As far as I know, there is one neccessity to use IE: to download and install
automatically window system upgrades.

Have a nice day, Rolf

Surely you can do better than that!
I don't want to gamble my money away.
I don't want a new ringtone for my 6-year-old mobile phone.

Enabled. I visit a number of websites that depend on scripting.

IE, huh? You're a braver man than me!
