though i have not really making use of the feature yet, i went to using
hot swap hard drive bays. after having a system crash, then 2 months
later with both the main drive and backup drive in the same case being
stolen.
i now have one in the main case and one on the usb ports so i can take
it to another computer when necessary( to help others backup).
or you can go to cartridge drives.
i always liked the idea of removable drives because then i can put
different o.s. or setups without having to always erase first.
just my thoughts

How does that impact speed of access, other than it may take a while to get
the hd plugged in if i am asleep when it's needed?
