I just heard today that Exotica is a bit touchy on most machines... :\

Make sure your locking bmp's/surfaces correctly when you need to etc. If you have a runtime bug with Exotica, it normally will do what you describe. This is because it has the DirectX engine engaged, and Euphoria can't shut it down when it dies.

I remember seeing on the web site that it was going to be a call-from-C library or something. My memory is vague as that was years ago. Or about.

My memory is vague as that was years ago. Or about. Exotica was a call from c library, and ExoticaX was a wrapper written seperately for Eu by another Coder. Both of those coders aren't active in the community anymore as far as I know(Todd Riggs for Exotica, Scooby[can't remember his really name] for ExoticaX), however, I am certain they stopped work on Exotica/ExoticaX some time ago. I'm not using it for a game atm, I used it for the Perlin Noise Library which can be used to make 2d/3d textures, animated 3d textures, sketchy interfaces etc. I'm still slowly working on version 0.5.3 which has support for creating AVI's for the animated 2d textures etc. Search on RDS if you interested. Cheers, Dan McGrath

Hi All, I've been working on my exoticaX lib lately, and I think I'm just about done.. except for updating the docs.. Before I finish the docs and put it on the web though, I would like to get some peeps to test it for me.. anyone willing? Fro those of you who have tried exotica before, and it didn't work, I've made some changes to how exotica initializes, so maybe you would want to try for me.. I'm hoping I solved quite a few of the problems that exotica poses.. I should note that my latest lib is for exotica1.5, NOT exotica1.6, but that shouldn't make much difference.. If you're interested to test for me, send me an email.. Chris
