1. Weather [Totally OT]
Hi all.
South America has strange climate at some places. For example, Lima, Capital
of Perú, is at sea level, very near the Equator. In spite of that, its
temperature is such of an ever lasting spring, due to the Humboldt current.
It does not rain in Lima; usually it is cloudy, and frequently you may have
a slight drizzle, but it never rains. Well, actually not so: it rains about
twice per century!!
Buenos Aires has a mild climate, much like Sydney, with moderately cold
winters, but it never snows in Buenos Aires. Well, lets not exaggerate:
last time we got snow was in 1918, and this is the only known case during
historical times.
I live in Buenos Aires.
And TODAY it is snowing in Buenos Aires, after 89 years!!

HAHA! Awesome for you! Now, I live in Texas, so if we get snow it's more
like slush. grrrrr. :)
Global warming? What global warming? :D
(Oh, by the way, we've had record rainfall here in the Dallas area. We beat
the record set back in the 1920s.)

I live in the downtown Fort Worth area (35 miles west of downtown Dallas, Texas)
and we always get less rain over here.
We got cows in Cowtown, and Dallas has... oh, lots more techie stuff.

Hi Ricardo,
today I heard about the snow in Buenos Aires on the German TV news.
But it was old news for me because I already knew about it from your post. 
When the snow will melt, Euphoria can bring it back:

Wacky weather here in Johannesburg too.
Last week we had snow for the first time in 20 years,
and in Cape Town the waves breaking over the shorefront were freezing
solid on the rocks and bannisters.

Wacky (or scary) weather here in Auckland, New Zealand. Winds up to 150Km/h in
the last couple of days with one place recording 180Km/h. Several tornadoes in
the south last week.
All "once in 100 year" stuff.

Here in Sweden we had like 85mm rain in just three days, wednesday to friday
last week. That's more than there usually is in the whole month of July.

That was a very busy time for me too; the company I work for was in the final
stages of a merger. I hope you enjoyed NZ and Australia. Maybe I will come
skiing in Buenos Aires some day?
On a programming related note... I bought a new toy today; a logic puzzle called
the "Spin.Out" invented by William Keister based on "Gray Binary Code" named
after Frank Gray.
It had me puzzled for about half an hour before I found the sequence to solve
it. I'm not sure if I actually found a "solution" though or just solved it by
repetition of a certain pattern of "operations". Definitely a programmer's toy,
it's deceptively complex. :)
