Hello All, If anyone is interested the new Nexus Radio is available for download. As I previous posted a few months back the new version is completely free to download and redistribute to friends and family. For those who are not familiar with Nexus Radio it is completely written in Euphoria(Excluding the external DLLs/Libraries), and compiled to C using the translator. ~ C. Hi, Just to let you know, on your download page, with my 120 dpi screen, the link to download the radio is offset to the left and some people might not find it. --Quark

Hi DB, Thank you for the feedback but I was not able to reproduce the error on two different machines. I changed both the DPI and browser font and the layout of the site remained the same. I also viewed the site in different browsers with no change to the layout. But I am not worried either way because very few users change their DPI to higher values. ~C. Hi C, Tnteresting that quote at the end of your reply... Quote from an article at Microsoft Developer Network: "Does your application work on high-density displays? Probably not. The standard computer monitor today has a display of about 96 dots per inch (DPI), and most applications assume that they are running on a 96-DPI display. But that’s an increasingly dangerous assumption. Today, you can readily buy a laptop with a 133-DPI display; 170-DPI displays are just around the corner, and within the next few years, 200-DPI displays will be shipping in quantity. The industry journal DisplaySearch predicts that 40 percent of laptop sales will have greater than 100 DPI.." --Quark

After I had quoted that, I did some more looking and didn't find the prediction had come true. Meanwhile I have been trying to research the issue, and have found it obscure. I have wondered if the assumption to 96 dpi might not be a problem (I have had a few downloaded programs completely goofed by my settings), but I now am more wandering in confusion, than wondering. People can, and do change the dpi, can a programmer take this into account? Is it worth the bother? -- at this point, I have no idea. --Quark

DB, There are ways to keep the font style the same across multiple DPI settings. I am not sure what is going on with your system but I have had a few other people test the site under higher DPIs with no problems reported. What are your system specs? ~C. Right click anywhere on your desktop and select proeprties. 2. Click settings. 3. Click advanced. "If you do what you have always done, you will get what you always got."

I was trying to get a good net radio program and found none. All of them take a long time to connect, and most times don't succeed. They have many other drawbacks. Instead, yours is wonderful: easy and fast connection, it doesn't usually lose the connection, has a lot of effects (I'm only beginning to try them), has a really large radio base, is free, doesn't contain adware, and more. The only problem I noticed is this: in case the connection is lost, it tells the station is not available, but if one tries again, the connection is immediately restored. So, I think that a good added feature would be retrying the connection automatically in this case. Many thanks for this wonderful program. It shows that Euphoria is not a toy language at all, but a extremely good tool for any programming task.

Hi, The specs: From SETTINGS: Monitor (flat-panel) is set at resolution of 1280x1024 and is running at 75 Hz on NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200 DPI setting: Large size (120 DPI) APPEARANCE: Windows and buttons: Windows XP style Color scheme: Default (blue) Font size: Normal Except for the dpi, it doesn't seem exceptional...Oh boy, I just rechecked on your site and the problem has gone away. As Roseanna Anna Danna used to say: "Never mind" (scratching noggin). However, I am still interested in the dpi issue. I am about ready to reset it to normal rather than have otherwise good programs messed up such as one called Free Ultra Video Editor that is currently real hard to use. --Quark

This dosen't have any thing to do with Watcon but I am having trouble with get.e. My code: Under Windows:
global function load(sequence fileName) object fn, seq fn=open(fileName,"r") -- fn=3 here so db_create() and my_open() are not involed if fn=-1 then db_create(fileName) fn=my_open(fileName,"r") end if seq=get(fn) if seq[1]=GET_SUCCESS then -- (0) -- GET_SUCCESS = 0 close(fn) return seq[2] elsif seq[1]=GET_EOF then -- (-1) -- GET_EOF = -1 if platform()=DOS32 then set_active_page(0) set_display_page(0) end if puts(1,"GET_EOF ERROR") return "GET_EOF ERROR" elsif seq[1]=GET_FAIL then -- (1) -- GET_FAIL = 1 printf(1,"in GET_FAIL fn=%d \n",{fn}) if platform()=DOS32 then set_active_page(0) set_display_page(0) end if puts(1,"GET_FAIL") return "GET_FAIL" end if end function sequence info info=load("Arwen.ew") ?info
I always returns GET_FAIL. The file is there it returns fn=3 ??C Bouzy wrote: > > Hi DB, > > Thank you for the feedback but I was not able to reproduce the error on two > different machines. Hello Ricardo, Thank you for the kind words and I think everyone here knows EU is anything but a toy language. I would like to note credit should also go to: Matt Lewis: EUCom and Wrapping SkinCrafter Elliott: Wrapping Bass Derek Parnell: Win32Lib and critical feedback And of course Robert Craig for developing a powerful but easy to use language. ~C. So if the first line is, say "include dll.e", the string "include" is not an object representation and get() returns {GET_FAIL,whatever}. If you want the first line of the file returned, use gets() instead. Otherwise, I am not sure of what you want to achieve. CChris

Hi C. Bouzy again. Another issue: When installing, it doesn't warn that it changes file associations, for example for MP3. Regards.

Can you add "New Age" genre? What does "Filter" do? Dan Moyer

Hello Dan, Thanks for the kind words. Nexus might or might not run on non-administrator accounts, not sure why it works on some systems and doesn't work on others. Filters are used to record specific songs and/or artists. Just enter the name(s) of the song(s) and/or artist(s) and Nexus will only record songs with keywords in the filter list. Just connect to a station, press record, and Nexus will do the rest. C. Bouzy "If you do what you have always done, you will get what you always got."

And I *think* it installed from the non-admin account just fine. That "Filter" sounds nice, so of course here's a suggestion to "spiff" it up: allow that Nexus does NOT have to be connected to a *particular* station, but either SCANS the info headers of *all*, or just user specified stations, looking for the filter terms on *any* of them, then connecting & recording as found. Just an idea. Dan
