There's something the matter with _my_ version? If it wasn't you writing
this, I'd choose to be insulted.
No, not suprisingly, I chose my own version. Nothing against Cyrek; it's
just a lot easier for me that way. Sort of like Robert's insistance on using
ed instead of ee.
The main reason is code familiarity. I haven't even downloaded Cyrek's
version. Although I'm sure that it's a fantastic update, ee has all the
features that I wanted, so I didn't have a compelling reason to look at
Cyrek's code.
I don't think it'll find it that tough to port, especially using ee as a
model. Primary changes include:
- support for Linux keys
- removed all VGA references
- rewrote screen routines to shadow screen writes
- changed references from '\\' to system-dependant variable
- changed graphic characters to plain text
- removed upper() on file names - Linux is case sensitive
- hacked in support for Alt+B for block selection toggling
- checked for \r as well as \n when reading in files.
I should probably add some documentation, since that also means that the
Text GUI library has been ported as well.
If anyone cares, I can take a couple of minutes and rewrite the screen
routines so that get_text_image and display_text_image work (more or less)
under Linux.

I use Linux-Madrake. It's Red Hat with KDE pre-installed, and the install is
mostly painless. KDE is *very* cool - a much more usable interface than most
klunky X Window shells. It keeps me from fumbling around at the command
line. The latest version has an option to have it come right up in X Window
mode.
