Hiya all,
I got a idea for a database... I have twin 1.7gb HD's... I have 250m
free...not much left for Windows Virtual Mem .... My prob is i have alot
programs that i have downloaded... I hate downloading so i keep a backup
of them in ace/rar/zip formats... I went a got partion magic 4.0 from a
frined and was going to use 1k clusters... cant unless i resize the
partion and cant do that unless i delete and i dont want to do that and
bla bla bla bla... just a big hassle.. not worth it.. yet..
so i was thinking just store the whole mess in one big data base..
use one puplic key for all files...not realy a great way but i think it
will be smaller then having a key for each files that way it is
now...also there could me 4 or 5 differnt keys and the progrma selects
the key that will give the largest compression... like key A for texts
files... also just converting text files to 7 bit bytes is a big savings
too..(some of my text files are a few megs in size) ... then use key B
for exe files ... windows exe's nomaly have large amounts of space in
them so many exe's could "match" each other in a compressable way.. like
the first..64 or so bytes is almost always the little dos front end..
"this program can not be run in dos mode" then exits...
I forgot just where i was going with this... =)....
This ever happen to you? a thought that was full and growing then ~poof~
you have no idea what it was? Hope someone can see where i was going ...
